The Team Kirtland Home Away From Home program matches first-term Airmen with volunteer civilian host families who provide a warm welcome to our community and continued support during their assignment/deployment.

Families provide a caring environment for the brave young men and women serving at Kirtland Air Force Base, allowing them to have time away from the day-to-day challenges of serving our great nation.

Interested families who wish to volunteer for the Team Kirtland Home Away From Home program complete a family questionnaire and agree to:

  • Successfully complete a background check
(no cost to applicants, however donations are welcomed)
  • Spend time with their service member
(this is decided individually between the family and their airman)
  • Commit to host service member(s) throughout their first term of enlistment at Kirtland Air Force Base
    (typically 3-5 years)
  • Provide a welcoming atmosphere with opportunities for home-cooked meals and inclusion in holiday celebrations
  • Engage their service member in activities and events
    (at their own cost)
